CVTL is at the forefront of coordinating assistance to a number of IDP camps since the April 2006 street violence spawned wave after wave of internally displaced people.
 CVTL and Austrian Red Cross jointly implement an integrated Rural Community Water and Sanitation Development Project co-financed by the European Union.
Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) has firmed up its
Strategic Plan for 2006 - 2009.
For the next four years, CVTL will focus on Health; Disaster Management; Community Mobilization and Empowerment; Promotion of RCRC principles and humanitarian values; and Organizational Development.

Tsunami in Solomon Islands

The International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies is launching a preliminary emergency appeal for 1.1 million Swiss francs ($819,000 USD/ €615,000) to support the Solomon Islands Red Cross (SIRC) in assisting the survivors of the tsunami that followed a powerful, 8.2 magnitude earthquake and severe aftershocks in the South Pacific.
