Strengthening Ties for Humanitarian Mission
CVTL and Partners’ Cooperation Meeting
Dili, 7th March 2019 – A three-day meeting is taking place in Dili this week with a number of Red Cross Societies from across the world focusing on partnerships with Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) to help achieve our common humanitarian mission and development goals.
CVTL and the IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) will host National Societies from the USA, New Zealand, Indonesia and Australia along with International NGO’s; United Nations and Government Ministries to focus on CVTL’s capacity development for sustainable service deliver and the scale-up of integrated risk reduction and resilience building programme for vulnerable people in Timor-Leste.
CVTL President, Ms Madalena Hanjan, said today “this has been a wonderful opportunity for CVTL to show other Red Cross Societies from around the world, NGO’s and Government partners, the great work that we do in focusing on our mission of working with the most vulnerable of Timor-Leste”.
“CVTL, which operates in all 13 Districts in Timor-Leste, has shown it has the capacity to effect change from within the most vulnerable communities in the country. I am certain that the voices of our beneficiaries, best practices and lesson learnt will be carried through the discussions over the coming days. This Partners Cooperation Meeting is a very positive step for all of us to be able to come together face to face. It’s an important opportunity to have open discussions about the relationships with CVTL and Red Cross Movement, the Timor-Leste Government and non-movement partners, so together we can meet the needs of vulnerable people in our communities in Timor-Leste”, she said.
Attendees at this meeting included Red Cross National Societies from America, New Zealand, Australia and Italy; Royal Embassy of Thailand, UNICEF, UNDP, WFP, WHO, Mercy Corps, Peace Corps, Child Fund, ADB, CNJTL MAP, BNAC, Department of Water, DNGRD, WFP, SEFOPE, GPM, ASTP, RHTO, ADTL, ASPT, CVTL Board Members, staff and volunteers among others.
And the opening was presided over by his Excellency, Secretary of State of SEFOPE, Mr Juliaõ da Silva.
