CVTL Promotes Nutrition Awareness Through Community Training in Manufahi

On 2–3 July 2025, the Health Department of the CVTL National Headquarters, in partnership with the CVTL Manufahi Branch, organized a two-day nutrition training in Searema Sub-Village, Babulo Village, Same Post-Administrative, Manufahi Municipality. The training focused on enhancing community knowledge on healthy eating habits and proper food preparation.

Led by Josefina Gusmão, a nutrition facilitator from CVTL NHQ, the program aimed to increase awareness about the importance of balanced nutrition, particularly among pregnant women. It addressed key issues such as malnutrition and anemia prevention. The sessions combined theoretical discussions with hands-on demonstrations of nutritious meals made from locally sourced ingredients.

A total of 29 community members participated in the training, including 27 women and 2 men, with several pregnant women actively engaged. The inclusive approach ensured that participants not only learned about nutrition but also practiced cooking methods that can be easily replicated at home.

This initiative was carried out under the Integrated Community-Based Risk Reduction (ICBRR) program and was financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea (MOFA) through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), reinforcing efforts to build healthier and more resilient communities.
