CVTL Joins the 23rd Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Independence: Supporting Safety, Health, and Community Resilience Nationwide

Dili, 20 May 2025 — In celebration of the 23rd Anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Independence, the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) proudly joined commemorative activities across the country, deploying its dedicated volunteers, staff, and trained First Aid teams to provide essential emergency support during public gatherings and national events.

With safety at the forefront, CVTL’s presence ensured prompt first aid response, reaffirming its vital role as an auxiliary to the Government of Timor-Leste in serving communities across the nation. From Dili to remote municipalities, CVTL teams stood ready to assist, echoing their unwavering commitment to building a safer, healthier, and more resilient Timor-Leste.

“First aid is not just a skill, it’s a community shield,” said a CVTL representative Ms.Vidiana Xareal. “By being present and prepared, we support the nation’s celebrations and safeguard lives.”

But CVTL’s impact goes far beyond event support. Through an integrated, grassroots approach, CVTL runs a wide range of life-improving programs, including:

Livelihood Development: Training communities in horticulture, animal husbandry, and fish farming, alongside conditional cash assistance to support household economies.
Disaster Risk Reduction & Response: Training local volunteers, equipping communities with early warning systems, and responding swiftly to disasters with first aid, relief distribution, and evacuation assistance.
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH): Building and maintaining clean water systems, promoting hygiene practices in homes and schools, and supporting sustainable sanitation infrastructure.
Community Health & Nutrition: Promoting health awareness, reproductive health, nutrition education, and combating domestic violence and preventable diseases.
First Aid & Blood Donation Campaigns: Expanding community first aid knowledge and encouraging regular blood donation through public advocacy.
Restoring Family Links (RFL): Helping reconnect family members separated by past conflict.
Integrated Community-Based Risk Reduction (ICBRR): Empowering communities through risk reduction, climate adaptation, and resilience-building.
Youth Empowerment: Engaging youth in leadership, health education, disability awareness, and regional exchanges.

CVTL invites everyone to take part in shaping a safer and healthier Timor-Leste. To request First Aid services or learn more about its community programs, visit your nearest CVTL Branch or reach out through CVTL’s official Facebook page.
