CVTL Empowers Manufahi Communities Through Savings and Lending Training

Manufahi, 5–6 August 2025 – The Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) conducted a Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) training in Nunufu Sub-Village, Babulo Village, Same Post Administrative, Manufahi Municipality. The program brought together 14 participants, including six women and eight men, aiming to build stronger financial management skills and foster a culture of collective savings.

According to CVTL Livelihood Manager Rosalia Martins Araujo, the training’s objectives were to strengthen the community’s capacity in financial management, improve access to microfinance, and establish a fair and sustainable savings and loan system for local groups. The two-day training was facilitated by Ms. Monica Soares alongside Ms. Araujo, providing both theoretical and practical guidance to help participants manage community funds effectively.

The activity was made possible with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MOFA) through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). By equipping participants with essential financial tools, the initiative aims to promote self-reliance and economic resilience in Manufahi’s rural communities.
