Dili, 14 August 2025 — The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) held a three-day training on Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) and Protection, Gender, and Inclusion (PGI) from 12–14 August 2025 at our National Headquarters in Formosa, Dili. The training aimed to reinforce the role of staff and volunteers in fostering stronger community participation, accountability, and inclusiveness in service delivery.
The event was officially opened by the Representative of the Secretary General, Mr. Joao Pinto, CVTL Health Coordinator, who highlighted the importance of empowering CVTL teams to better serve communities across Timor-Leste. Participants were encouraged to apply the knowledge and tools gained from the training to promote good practices and ensure that services are more responsive and inclusive.
A total of 20 participants, comprising 11 women and 9 men, took part in the training. They included the ICBRR Program Manager, Branch Coordinators, Operational Branch staff, ICBRR Project Officers, and volunteers from the Ainaro and Manufahi Branches. The diverse group of participants ensured that perspectives from both headquarters and field operations were represented in discussions and exercises.
This initiative was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MOFA) through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). CVTL expressed appreciation for the support and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community-centered approaches in its humanitarian and development work.
