Viqueque, 13 March 2026 – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) Viqueque Branch, in collaboration with the Civil Protection Authority (APC), Firefighters, the Municipal Civil Protection Service (SMPC), the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL), the Community Disaster Risk Management Committee (KJRDS), and other community-level emergency response structures, successfully conducted a disaster response simulation in Dilor Village, Lacluta Administrative Post, Viqueque Municipality.

The simulation aimed to strengthen local capacity and improve preparedness and response to disaster situations by enhancing coordination among government institutions, humanitarian organizations, and community groups.

Ms. Severina Marques, CVTL Viqueque Branch Coordinator, expressed her appreciation, stating, “We thank the communities, especially our partners, for their strong collaboration with CVTL in organizing this important simulation.”

During the exercise, participants practiced key emergency response actions, including early warning systems, evacuation procedures, coordination mechanisms, and victim rescue operations.

According to Mr. Filomeno De Araujo, CVTL Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Manager, these hands-on activities are essential to ensure communities can respond quickly and effectively to disasters such as floods, landslides, and other emergencies.

Through this initiative, it is expected that the community of Dilor Village, together with relevant authorities and partners, will be better prepared and able to work more effectively in reducing disaster risks in the future.
