Ainaro, 20 April 2026 – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) officially inaugurated a new Regional Warehouse (Region III) at the CVTL Ainaro Branch, located in Builico Sub-Village, Ainaro Vila Village, Ainaro Municipality. The new facility aims to strengthen logistics capacity and improve emergency response to future disasters and crises.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, CVTL President Mrs. Madalena F. M. H. C. Soares stated that the warehouse is part of CVTL’s ongoing efforts to reinforce disaster preparedness and response systems at the regional level.
The Regional Warehouse will serve several municipalities, including Ainaro, Aileu, Covalima, and Manufahi. It will be used to store and manage essential emergency relief items such as Family Kits and Hygiene Kits, ensuring a rapid, efficient, and well-coordinated response during disasters or emergencies.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of the Municipal Council of Directive (CDM) from Ainaro, Aileu, and Covalima, as well as the representative of the American Red Cross (AmCross), Mr. Md. Sazzad Ansari.
Also present at the event were representatives of the Ainaro Municipal Authority, the Commander of PNTL Ainaro Station, representatives of F-FDTL stationed in Ainaro, the Civil Protection Authority, MAE, SMASA, STPCS, MJ, MSSI, village chiefs, sub-village chiefs, youth leaders, and community members.
CVTL Ainaro Branch Coordinator Mr. Graciano Perreira expressed sincere appreciation to all local authorities and partners who have contributed and continue to support efforts to strengthen the capacity and presence of CVTL in Timor-Leste, especially in Ainaro Municipality.
The new warehouse was constructed by Seixas Company, Unipessoal Lda., with the support of the American Red Cross.
