Aileu, 20 December 2025 – The Vice President of Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL), Mr. Marcal Freitas Magno, together with the Deputy Coordinator of the Civil Society Support Office (GASC), officially inaugurated a clean water supply system for the community of Tabulasi Sub-Village, Seloi Kraik Village, Aileu Municipality.
The clean water system extends over a distance of 2.5 kilometers and benefits 66 households, serving a total population of 622 people, including 274 women and 347 men. The project aims to improve access to safe and reliable water, contributing to better health, sanitation, and livelihoods for the local community.
On behalf of CVTL, the Secretary General, Mr. Agapito da Silva, expressed his sincere appreciation to GASC for supporting the project. He emphasized that the clean water system is a vital contribution to improving the quality of life for the people of Tabulasi Sub-Village.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Vice President of CVTL, Mr. Marcal Freitas Magno; the Secretary General of CVTL, Mr. Agapito da Silva; the Deputy Coordinator of GASC, Mrs. Yasinta Lujina C. das Regras; a representative of the President of the Municipal Authority (PAM) of Aileu; the Village Head; the Sub-Village Head; members of the GMF; and members of the local community.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Coordinator of GASC, Mrs. Yasinta Lujina C. das Regras, highlighted the importance of community resilience and productive use of resources. She noted that when communities engage in horticultural activities according to their needs such as planting orange trees to generate income they not only improve household welfare but also address daily necessities. Despite challenges encountered during implementation, the community remained committed and hopeful, resulting in positive changes for their lives and the wider community.
The clean water supply system was implemented by Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) with financial and technical support from the Civil Society Support Office (GASC), reflecting a strong partnership to promote sustainable development and community well-being in Aileu Municipality.
