Bangkok, Thailand | 11–15 May 2026 — The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) actively participated in the Pandemic Readiness Enhancement Program (PREP) 2026 for National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Southeast Asia, held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Representing CVTL in the program were CVTL Doctor Mrs. Madalena dos Santos and Mrs. Ivania Mizaquel da Silva Rangel, a CVTL Health and Emergency Volunteer. Both participants expressed their happiness and gratitude for the valuable opportunity to join the regional program.
On behalf of CVTL, they extended sincere appreciation to the Singapore Red Cross and the Thai Red Cross Society for fully funding the program. They also thanked the Australian Red Cross for supporting their allowances and flight insurance.
The PREP 2026 program was jointly organized by the Singapore Red Cross and the Thai Red Cross to strengthen preparedness and response capacities for public health emergencies across Southeast Asia.
Through participation in the program, CVTL gained the opportunity to exchange experiences, learn best practices, and improve knowledge in coordination, emergency communication, and future pandemic preparedness.
One of the key lessons learned by CVTL was the importance of preparedness and strong collaboration among National Societies to ensure timely, effective, and well-coordinated responses to future public health emergencies.
The participants shared that the knowledge and experience gained from PREP 2026 will contribute significantly to strengthening both their personal capacities and the overall preparedness of CVTL.
