Safe Toilets, Healthier Lives “Mariano Alberto Carlos” Seloi-Malere, Aileu Municipality

“Safe Toilets, Healthier Lives”.

“For many years, there was no funding to build a good toilet,” recalls Mariano Alberto Carlos, father of four children from Seloi-Malere, Aileu Municipality.

“It is very difficult to build a proper toilet. For many years I have struggled to provide a safe toilet for my family, but I have not been able to do so because of insufficient funds. We depend on tempo

rary and unsafe toilets. As a father, “I feel sad because I cannot provide something better for my child’s health and dignity.”

In 2025, with the support of the Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL), I will finally have a proper toilet. “I am very happy and proud of CVTL’s support not only to transform my daily living conditions, but also to create a safe and healthy environment, free from risks using a safe toilet.”

“Thanks to CVTL, my family now has a proper toilet, we can use it safely, and I feel happy, proud, and grateful for this gift, CVTL has given health, dignity, and peace of mind to my family.”
