Dili 8 May 2024 – Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (Timor-Leste Red Cross – CVTL) celebrated Red Cross and Red Crescent Day today with a series of events held at the national level. Volunteers, staff, board members, founders, and partners joined hands in commemorating this important day, highlighting the organization’s commitment to humanitarian service.
Among the activities organized was a blood donation drive aimed at supporting patients in need of blood during their treatment. Additionally, a lively quiz on KAHOOT delved into the rich history of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, CVTL’s mission, emblem significance, and the seven fundamental principles. Winners of the quiz were rewarded with presents from CVTL, fostering a sense of engagement and learning among participants.
Across various branches, CVTL extended its celebrations, engaging volunteers and communities in activities designed to enhance understanding of the Red Cross and Red Crescent’s invaluable services and humanitarian issues. This grassroots approach aimed to strengthen bonds within local communities and raise awareness about the vital role played by organizations like CVTL in times of need.
