24 September 2026, Ainaro — The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL), through its National Headquarters (NHQ) and Ainaro Branch, together with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), conducted monitoring of Integrated Community-Based Risk Reduction (ICBRR) activities and continued community support through Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) in Ernaru Sub-Village, Manelobas Village, Ainaro Municipality.
The activity brought together Mr. João Pinto Soares, CVTL Health Department Coordinator; Mrs. Elisabeth Glorita Belo, ICBRR Manager; Mr. Marcelino Albuquerque, Youth and National Society Development (NSD) Department Coordinator; Mr. Macario Lopes, IFRC Senior Programme Officer in Dili; Mr. Domingos Soares Tomas, Chief of Ernaru Hamlet; as well as CVTL staff, volunteers and community members.
The monitoring aimed to assess the progress and use of CVA support and ensure that beneficiaries are able to use the assistance according to their needs to strengthen and sustain their livelihoods. During the visit, the CVTL and IFRC teams met with beneficiaries and observed the progress of several livelihood activities, including vegetable gardening, operating a mini market, bread production and carpentry.
A total of 21 beneficiaries 4 women and 17 men were supported through the activity. The monitoring of CVA assistance provides an opportunity for CVTL and IFRC to follow up on how the support is being used and how it contributes to beneficiaries’ efforts to improve and diversify their household sources of income.
The activity demonstrates CVTL and IFRC’s continued commitment to supporting communities to strengthen their livelihoods and build resilience through community-based approaches.
