21–22 September 2026, Jakarta — The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) participated in the Workshop on Strengthening Sustainability for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Programs, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 21 to 22 September 2026.
CVTL was represented by Mr. Ricardo da Silva, CVTL Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer, together with Mr. Antonio Abel Guterres, Senior Program Officer of the American Red Cross Delegation in Timor-Leste. The workshop provided an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of long-term DRR programs and explore ways to strengthen their sustainability and impact.
With support from Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) and facilitated by Don Johnson of Socoro Consulting, the workshop focused on sharing learning experiences, reviewing evaluation findings, and identifying priority actions to strengthen the sustainability and long-term impact of DRR programming.
Mr. Ricardo da Silva and Mr. Antonio Abel Guterres expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the workshop and highlighted the value of learning from the experiences of other Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies and delegations. The discussions provided an important platform to reflect on current DRR approaches and identify practical opportunities for continued improvement.
The workshop brought together approximately 30 participants from the American Red Cross (AmCross), Bangkok Regional Delegation, and National Society delegations from Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. The regional exchange strengthened collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Red Cross and Red Crescent partners working to build more sustainable and resilient communities through disaster risk reduction.
