24 July 2026, Dili – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) and CARE International officially signed a one-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in promoting water security, climate change adaptation, and disaster resilience across Timor-Leste.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Agapito da Silva, Secretary General of CVTL, and Mrs. Sarah Keino, Officer in Charge (OIC) Country Director of CARE International. The agreement reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to work together in supporting vulnerable communities through sustainable and inclusive humanitarian and development initiatives.
Under the partnership, both organisations agreed to implement the project according to the agreed implementation timeline, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of planned activities.
The collaboration will focus on the municipalities of Covalima and Ermera, where programmes will help improve community access to safe and reliable water while strengthening local capacity to adapt to the impacts of climate change and reduce disaster risks. Through a collaborative, community-centred, and sustainable approach, the initiative aims to build more resilient communities and contribute to long-term environmental and social wellbeing.
This partnership demonstrates the commitment of CVTL and CARE International to working together in addressing climate-related challenges and supporting communities to become safer, stronger, and better prepared for future risks.
