CVTL Ainaro Branch Strengthens Community Capacity Through Livelihood and CEA Training

From 19 to 21 August 2025, the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) hosted two important trainings: Livelihood Training and Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) at the CVTL Ainaro Branch Training Hall. The sessions brought together staff and volunteers to enhance their skills in disaster resilience, climate change awareness, and community feedback management.

According to Ms. Maria Pascoela, CVTL Livelihood Manager, the objective of the training was to increase participants’ knowledge of climate change and disaster-resilient livelihoods while strengthening their ability to provide, receive, and manage feedback and complaints within the Integrated Community-Based Risk Reduction (ICBRR) program. She emphasized that this effort ensures the quality of CVTL services and fosters stronger relationships between staff, volunteers, and the communities they serve.

The training was facilitated by Ms. Rosalia Martins Araujo, CVTL Disaster Risk Reduction and Livelihood Manager, together with Ms. Maria Pascoela da Cruz. A total of 20 participants, including 17 women and 3 men, engaged actively in the sessions through a combination of presentations and group discussions, promoting shared learning and practical exchanges.

These initiatives were made possible with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MOFA) through the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The program reflects CVTL’s ongoing commitment to empowering communities with knowledge and tools to build resilience against climate and disaster risks while ensuring accountability and inclusivity in humanitarian services.
