CVTL and Dili Health Service Launch Joint Fumigation to Prevent Dengue in Bekusi Kraik

Dili, 31 July 2025 – In a proactive effort to prevent a potential Dengue outbreak, the CVTL (Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste) Volunteers, through its Fumigation Team, collaborated with the Dili Municipal Health Service (SMSDili) to conduct a joint fumigation operation in Bekusi Kraik Sub-Village, Becora Village, Cristo Rei Post-Administrative, Dili Municipality.

According to Mr. João Pinto, CVTL Health Department Coordinator, the operation covered 62 households, aiming to protect the local community by eliminating mosquito breeding grounds. “This activity is part of our ongoing commitment to public health and vector-borne disease prevention,” he stated.

The initiative was made possible with the support of the Australian Red Cross (ARC), reinforcing international cooperation in addressing public health challenges in Timor-Leste. Residents welcomed the action, acknowledging the importance of early prevention measures to safeguard their health and wellbeing.
