Oe-Cussi, 7–8 August 2025 – The Disaster Management Department of the Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL), in collaboration with the National Directorate of Meteorology and Geophysics (DNMG), held a two-day training program in Naimeco Village, Oe-Cussi Municipality. The initiative aimed to strengthen local capacity in disaster preparedness and response through Anticipatory Action and Early Warning System practices.
Mr. Josafat de Araujo, representing CVTL National Headquarters and serving as one of the facilitators, explained that the training focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of the disaster management cycle, anticipatory action approaches, weather forecasting techniques, rainfall measurement, and community-based early warning mechanisms.
The session brought together 24 participants, including 10 women and 14 men, who gained practical knowledge and skills to better protect and support vulnerable communities before disasters strike. This inclusive participation reflects CVTL’s ongoing commitment to ensuring both women and men are equally empowered in disaster risk reduction efforts.
This activity was made possible with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) through the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF), underscoring the importance of partnerships in building community resilience across Timor-Leste.
