Dili, 7 of May 2025 – To mark World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8, the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) extends its heartfelt congratulations to everyone joining in this global celebration. This year’s theme, “On the Side of Humanity,” highlights the enduring mission of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to protect human dignity and offer help where it’s needed most.
In honor of the day, CVTL organized a simple yet impactful event—a blood donation drive aimed at saving lives and supporting patients in critical need of blood during medical treatment. “This year CVTL held a simple celebration, which is a blood donation activity to celebrate Red Cross and Red Crescent Day,” said CVTL Secretary General Mr. Luis Pedro Pinto. “Donating blood saves lives, and through this act, we reaffirm our commitment to humanity.”
CVTL also expresses deep gratitude to its dedicated volunteers, staff, and supporters who continue to stand strong for the cause of humanity. Their selfless service brings hope and healing to those in greatest need, reminding us all of the powerful difference compassion and unity can make in the lives of others.
As the theme encourages reflection, CVTL calls on everyone to nurture the spirit of helping and serving others. Once again, CVTL proudly congratulates the global Red Cross and Red Crescent family and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the Movement’s seven fundamental principles—humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
