CVTL celebrates World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day

8th May – Timor-Leste – Today, CVTL celebrates World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the birthday of our founder Henry Dunant, is an annual celebration of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

This year, the theme of the celebration is: Everything we do comes #fromtheheart.

We celebrate this important day recognising our volunteers, staff and everyone who contributed much through their involvement in helping vulnerable communities: a decision to do the voluntary work is a decision that comes from heart.

This year’s theme is a sense of gratitude for all the contribution made to the Red Cross to bring changes to the communities. Red Cross volunteers and staff from around the world are always ready in any situation, emergency response, capacity building of communities and improving the quality of community life.

We continue to be committed to providing humanitarian services to vulnerable communities from now and in the future through water system installation, working to help families to increase their family income, mobilising blood donors, prevention of diseases, increasing community knowledge and capacity, helping our youth etc.

While in the humanitarian field, volunteers and staff face a variety of challenges, this does not destroy the spirit of mutual assistance, because we want to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable people.

Happy Red Cross and Res Crescent day
