25 March 2026, RAEOA – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL), through our Branch Disaster Response Team (BDRT) from the Oe-Cussi Branch, has provided humanitarian assistance to families affected by recent flooding in the Oé-Cussi-Ambeno Special Administrative Region (RAEOA).
The response team, consisting of five members (one female and four male), worked in close coordination with the Civil Protection Authority (APC RAEOA), the World Food Programme (WFP), and local authorities to support impacted communities in Noeninen Sub-Village, Cunha Village, and Usapibela Sub-Village, Lalisuk Village.
According to Mr. Domingos Tapen Cune, CVTL RAEOA Branch Coordinator, the disaster began on 23 March 2026 following heavy rainfall, which led to flooding on 24 March 2026.
The flooding affected in Noeninen Sub-Village, Cunha Village: 45 households, 65 people (35 females and 30 males) and Usapibela Sub-Village, Lalisuk Village: 20 households, 79 people (36 females and 43 males). In response, the CVTL Oe-Cussi Branch distributed 65 family kits and 65 tarpaulins to support the immediate needs of affected families.
This intervention aims to help communities meet their basic needs during the emergency while strengthening their resilience in the face of future disasters. CVTL remains committed to we standing with affected communities and encouraging them to stay strong during this challenging time.
