Singapore, 30–31 March 2026 – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) actively participated in the Workshop of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Southeast Asia on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Humanitarian Action in Armed Conflict.
The workshop, held at the Red Cross House in Singapore, was organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross (SRC). It brought together representatives from National Societies across Southeast Asia to discuss key humanitarian challenges and strengthen regional cooperation.
Representing CVTL were External Relations Coordinator Mrs. Vidiana Xareal and Communications and Dissemination Manager Mr. Matias Augusto da Cruz.
According to Mrs. Vidiana Xareal, the workshop focused on presentations and roundtable discussions aimed at strengthening respect for International Humanitarian Law, promoting its core principles, and enhancing understanding of complementary roles in situations of armed conflict.
She emphasized that CVTL’s participation contributed to increasing the organization’s capacity to integrate IHL into its training programs, operational activities, and public awareness initiatives. It also reinforced collaboration with the ICRC and regional partners.
The workshop further highlighted innovative approaches to improving the dissemination of IHL among volunteers, youth, and communities, ensuring better preparedness to respond effectively in humanitarian situations.
This participation demonstrates CVTL’s strong commitment to upholding humanitarian principles and protecting the most vulnerable during times of crisis. CVTL also expressed its sincere appreciation to the ICRC and the Singapore Red Cross for organizing this impactful and valuable workshop.
