On 22–23 July 2025, the CVTL (Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste) Ermera Branch held a two-day Protection, Gender, and Inclusion (PGI) Workshop for community volunteers from Leimealeten Village in Ermera Municipality. The event aimed to enhance understanding and build local capacity on PGI-related issues within the community.
Facilitated by Mr. Joao Maia, the workshop focused on raising awareness around protection, promoting gender equality, advocating for inclusion, and strengthening leadership skills. Mr. Maia highlighted the importance of shared responsibility and accountability in upholding PGI values, emphasizing that inclusive and safe community practices are key to sustainable development.
A total of 24 community volunteers participated in the training, including 5 women and 19 men. The participants engaged in discussions, group activities, and practical exercises designed to apply PGI principles in real-life community settings.
This initiative was made possible with the support of the American Red Cross (AmCross), whose contribution underscores the importance of international collaboration in empowering local communities to become more inclusive, resilient, and equitable.
