CVTL and CRS Strengthen Capacity on Social Inclusion and Nutrition Through Training of Trainers in Dili

Dili, 19–22 January 2026 — The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Catholic Relief Services Timor-Leste (CRS-TL), successfully conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) under the Strengthening Social Inclusion and Nutrition in Timor-Leste (SSINTL) program. The training took place at CVTL National Headquarters in Formosa, Dili.

The four-day training was facilitated by CRS Trainer Mrs. Kelley Khamphouxay and brought together 24 participants, comprising 16 women and 8 men. Participants included health personnel from Uatulari and Ossu Administrative Posts in Viqueque Municipality, as well as health posts in Loes, Guiso, and Maubara Administrative Posts in Liquiça Municipality, alongside community health volunteers.

In his opening remarks, CVTL Secretary General Mr. Agapito expressed appreciation to CRS for its continued partnership in addressing malnutrition in Timor-Leste. He also extended thanks to the Ministry of Health and frontline health personnel who work closely with CVTL to serve communities at the grassroots level.

The training sessions focused on Infant and Toddler Feeding, social and behavior change approaches, and inclusive nutrition messaging. These topics aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to support community-based efforts in reducing malnutrition, particularly among pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under two years of age.

This Training of Trainers is part of ongoing efforts to improve nutrition outcomes and promote social inclusion across Timor-Leste and is supported by the European Union (EU) in Timor-Leste.
