From June 13 to 15, 2024, the CVTL (Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste) First Aid team conducted a comprehensive training session for Australian volunteers in Timor-Leste and members of Murak-Rai Timor. The training took place at the CVTL National Headquarters Training Hall in Formosa, Dili. Participants received detailed instruction on essential first aid techniques aimed at enabling them to respond effectively to emergencies both at work and at home.
The primary goal of the training was to equip attendees with the skills necessary to handle unexpected situations with confidence and competence. The hands-on sessions covered a range of first aid procedures, including CPR, wound care, and managing fractures. By the end of the training, participants were better prepared to offer immediate assistance in emergencies, potentially saving lives and reducing the severity of injuries.
CVTL emphasized the importance of first aid knowledge in everyday life, highlighting how timely and appropriate responses can make a critical difference in emergency scenarios. The organization encouraged all community members, not just volunteers, to consider first aid training as an essential life skill. The training also provided an opportunity for volunteers to enhance their community service capabilities, fostering a safer and more resilient community.
