On 6 June 2025, Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) held a staff competition at its National Headquarters to deepen understanding of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’s history, humanitarian principles, and the roles of CVTL, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The event brought together employees from across departments in a spirited and educational setting.
In his opening remarks, CVTL Secretary General Mr. Luis Pedro Pinto highlighted that the event aimed to strengthen not only the knowledge but also the bonds of friendship among staff members. “This competition is not about winning or losing,” he said. “It is about recognizing the quality and capacity of each individual and providing them with an opportunity to grow and connect through our shared mission.”
The competition forms part of the lead-up to CVTL’s 25th anniversary celebration on 22 June 2025. As the organization prepares to mark a quarter-century of humanitarian service, events like this underscore its commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and the core values that guide its work.
