CVTL Oe-cusse Branch Joint Emergency Response Simulation Conducted at Oe-Cusse Airport to Strengthen Regional Coordination

From 16 to 17 July 2025, a joint emergency simulation exercise was held at Rota do Sândalo International Airport in Oe-Cusse. The two-day operation brought together key emergency and security agencies including the CVTL Oe-Cusse Branch, SNAEM Ambulance Service, F-FDTL, PNTL, Firefighters, and the Airport Authority. The simulation was part of a broader effort to strengthen preparedness and coordination in response to potential crises at the airport.

Mr. Domingos Tapen Cune, Coordinator of the CVTL Oe-Cusse Branch, emphasized the importance of collaboration at the regional level. “As a humanitarian organization that works alongside the government of Timor-Leste, CVTL values the opportunity to coordinate with regional authorities to ensure that humanitarian services and response efforts are more efficient and effective,” he said. The exercise served as an example of how local branches can work hand-in-hand with government and emergency services to boost regional resilience.

The primary aim of the simulation was to test and enhance the emergency response capabilities of all participating agencies. It focused on improving real-time coordination and ensuring that personnel are well-prepared to handle various emergency scenarios, particularly those that may occur at an international airport. This exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and improve crisis response infrastructure in Oe-Cusse.
