CVTL Strengthens Protection, Gender, and Inclusion Through National Training

Dili, 18–19 August 2025 – The Secretary General of Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL), Mr. Luis Pedro Pinto, officially opened a two-day Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI) Training at the CVTL National Headquarters, Formosa, Dili. The training brought together Branch Coordinators and Youth Councils from all 13 branches across the country.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills in implementing programs that are inclusive, protective of vulnerable people, and respectful of the dignity of all including women, children, persons with disabilities, and minority groups. A total of 26 participants attended, consisting of 12 women and 14 men, reflecting CVTL’s mission to promote safety, equality, and inclusion.

Key topics addressed during the training included CVTL’s Child Protection Policy, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEAH), Gender Equality, Safeguarding, Disability Inclusion, Gender-Based Violence, and the Code of Conduct for staff and volunteers. These sessions reinforced CVTL’s commitment to ensuring that its staff and volunteers uphold the highest standards of respect and accountability in their humanitarian work.

The training was facilitated by CVTL staff members Mr. Agapito da Silva, Mrs. Juliana Fátima Rebelo, Mrs. Dircia da Costa Soares, and Ms. Joalita Teresa Magno. This important initiative was made possible with financial support from the Australian Red Cross (ARC).
