1 December 2025, Tibar – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) has successfully conducted a Training of Facilitators (ToF) on Anticipatory Action and Early Warning Systems for volunteers representing all 13 branches across the country. The training took place at the Tibar Training Center in Liquiça Municipality.
The program was officially opened by the CVTL Secretary General, Mr. Agapito da Silva, accompanied by Mrs. Emidia Belo, CVTL Disaster Management (DM) Coordinator, and Mr. Agostinho da Silva, Technical Adviser from the IFRC Climate Centre in Dili.
During the opening session, Mrs. Emidia Belo emphasized the importance of the training in strengthening branch capacity. “This training prepares you to become facilitators so that when you return, you can reinforce the disaster response teams in your branches, especially in prevention, preparedness, and response,” she stated.
The Secretary General also encouraged the participants to take full advantage of the learning opportunity. “We thank the Australian Red Cross for always supporting us. You are valuable resources for CVTL in your branches. If there is something you don’t understand, immediately ask your trainers. When you return, remain active in supporting your communities both in disaster and normal situations,” he said.
A total of 25 volunteers took part in the training, with each branch represented by two participants. The group included 13 women and 12 men, demonstrating strong female participation and leadership within the program. The training sessions were facilitated by the CVTL Disaster Management team.
This activity was made possible through funding support from the Australian Red Cross (ARC).
