SEAYN Hosts Transformative Workshop for Southeast Asian Youth Leaders

Last month, the South-East Asia Youth Network (SEAYN) held a transformative workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, focusing on peace, communication, community building, and behavioral change. The event brought together young leaders from nine National Societies: Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste. Among the attendees were Bonifacio, CVTL Youth President, and Sildonia, CVTL Youth Officer.

The week-long event, held from April 27th to May 3rd, included engaging sessions and experiential activities designed to foster teamwork, innovation, and community spirit. Participants collaborated on designing an outdoor activity, emphasizing teamwork and innovative solutions.

A significant part of the workshop was a reflective session on SEAYN’s Terms of Reference, followed by a symbolic handover event aimed at empowering youth for positive change. The cultural highlight of the event was a visit to the Grand Palace in Bangkok, providing an opportunity for participants to bond and appreciate Thailand’s rich heritage.

In addition to the workshop, participants engaged in community service projects such as constructing crab houses and other environmental initiatives. These activities underscored the unity and commitment of the youth leaders to fostering positive change in their communities.

The workshop concluded with a gala dinner and cultural show, enhancing cross-cultural understanding and celebrating the spirit of global citizenship and service. Participants departed with a renewed commitment to the values of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

SEAYN’s workshop was followed by the Southeast Asia and Pacific Hack Lab from April 29th to May 2nd, with community activities on May 3rd, further enhancing the skills and collaborative spirit of the young leaders.

CVTL expressed gratitude to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for facilitating this valuable workshop and providing a platform for meaningful connections among RCRC youth from Southeast Asia.
