Shoe Donation from Million Lighting Brightens Lives of Tazhilin Primary School Students: A Collaborative Effort by CVTL Branch Covalima

Suai, 22 August 2024 – In a heartwarming gesture of support for education, Million Lighting, a company based in Singapore, donated shoes to students at the local Primary School (EBF) in Tazhilin Village, Zumalai Post, Covalima Municipality. The donation event, held on August 22, 2024, aimed to uplift and motivate 142 students by providing them with much-needed footwear for their school activities.

The initiative was organized by the Covalima branch of the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL), in collaboration with the Covalima Municipal Education. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to improving the educational experience for students in remote and underserved areas of Timor-Leste.

The donation was particularly significant for Tazhilin Village, where access to basic necessities can be challenging. Many students in this rural area walk long distances to attend school, often without proper footwear. The new shoes are expected to ease this burden, allowing students to focus more on their studies and participate more comfortably in school activities.

Representatives from the CVTL and local education officials expressed their gratitude to Million Lighting for their generous contribution. They emphasized the importance of such initiatives in bridging gaps in education and ensuring that all students have the resources they need to succeed.

Million Lighting’s donation is part of a broader effort to support education in remote areas of Timor-Leste. By addressing basic needs like footwear, the company hopes to inspire other organizations to contribute to similar causes, ultimately helping to create a brighter future for the children of Timor-Leste.
