CVTL Ainaro Branch and APC Provide Emergency Assistance to Disaster-Affected Families in Hatu-Udo

Ainaro, 19 January 2026 – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) Ainaro Branch, in coordination with the Civil Protection Authority (APC) of Ainaro Municipality, has provided emergency assistance to households affected by a recent disaster in Hatu-Udo Post Administrative.

The assistance included food and non-food items and was delivered directly to affected communities through joint efforts by CVTL and APC teams. In total, 11 households received support across Foho Ai-Lico and Leolima Villages.

CVTL Ainaro Branch Coordinator, Mr. Graciano, explained that immediately after the incident, the APC Ainaro team coordinated with CVTL, reflecting the strong and ongoing cooperation between the two institutions. He highlighted that CVTL supported the response by providing family packages and transportation, working closely with APC to ensure timely distribution to the affected households.

Mr. Graciano also encouraged communities in Ainaro to promptly inform authorities when disasters occur, so that rapid assessments can be conducted and assistance provided according to available capacity.

In Foho Ai-Lico Village, emergency assistance was provided to 2 households, benefiting 15 people, including 8 females and 7 males. Meanwhile, in Leolima Village, 9 households received assistance, reaching a total of 68 beneficiaries, comprising 31 females and 37 males.

CVTL and APC remain committed to supporting vulnerable communities and strengthening coordination to ensure effective and timely disaster response in Ainaro Municipality.
