CVTL Conducts Self-Assessment Workshop on Cash and Voucher Assistance in Dili

Dili, 6-7 March 2025 – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) conducted a Self-Assessment Workshop on Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) at Tower Fatuhada, Dili, to evaluate and enhance its operational readiness. The event was officially opened by CVTL Secretary General Mr. Luis Pedro Pinto, alongside Md. Sazzad Ansari, American Red Cross Country Representative in Timor-Leste, Fadhil Yusri Aksa, IFRC APRO CVA Focal Point, and Mohamed Ahmed, Advisor for International Technical Programs at the American Red Cross.

In their opening remarks, the leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening CVTL’s capacity in delivering cash and voucher assistance during emergencies. The workshop aimed to review existing organizational capabilities, identify gaps, and update an action plan to ensure a more effective and efficient CVA response in the future.

A team of facilitators from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) regional CVA experts, the American Red Cross, and the CVTL Cash Focal collaborated to guide participants through the assessment process. Their combined expertise ensured a comprehensive evaluation and strategic planning for future CVA implementation.

A total of 36 participants, including 12 women and 24 men, attended the workshop. The attendees represented various CVTL departments such as Human Resources, Fundraising, Disaster Management, Organizational Development and Youth, Health, Logistics, and Finance. Additionally, coordinators and branch operations representatives from all 13 CVTL branches actively engaged in discussions and planning.

The successful completion of the workshop was made possible with the support of the American Red Cross and IFRC in Timor-Leste. This initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening CVTL’s ability to provide timely and effective cash assistance to vulnerable communities in times of crisis.
