Bangkok Thailand, 9 – 13 September 2024, CVTL’s IT and Information Management Specialists joined the 14th edition of the Data Protection Course in Humanitarian Action held in Bangkok, Thailand. The event, designed for professionals working in humanitarian environments, focused on equipping participants with essential knowledge on Privacy, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity. The course emphasized safeguarding personal data in challenging and sensitive contexts, which is crucial for organizations like the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
The course brought together participants from the National Societies of Timor-Leste, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, South Korea, Bhutan, Vietnam, and Thailand, alongside representatives from international organizations like the ICRC and UNICEF. The sessions were led by a highly skilled teaching team, providing in-depth insights into best practices for managing sensitive information in humanitarian work.
Representing CVTL (Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste), Mr. Nelson, IT Specialist, and Mr. Apolinario, Information Management Specialist, actively engaged in the training. They expressed their appreciation for the opportunity, stating, “We are happy and grateful for this wonderful opportunity. After this training, we return ready to enhance CVTL’s data protection systems and centralize data management to better support our humanitarian efforts.”
The training equipped participants with practical tools and frameworks to improve data security within their organizations. By strengthening CVTL’s data protection protocols, the specialists will be able to ensure that sensitive data is better managed, thus improving the efficiency of humanitarian operations in Timor-Leste.
