CVTL Lautem Branch Conducts Health Prevention Awareness Campaign in Daudere Village

Lautem, 16 July 2024 – The Lautem Branch of the Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) shared crucial health prevention information with the community in Sagueli and Vassatoi Hamlet, Daudere Village, Lautem Municipality. This initiative focused on raising awareness about dengue and rabies, two prevalent diseases in the region, and educating residents on effective prevention methods.

The campaign aimed to enhance the community’s understanding of how these diseases spread and the necessary steps to prevent infection. The outreach was successful, reaching 64 beneficiaries across 70 households. This substantial engagement demonstrates the community’s eagerness to learn and adopt healthier practices to safeguard their health.

The awareness drive was made possible through funding support from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The initiative was facilitated by the Secretary of State for Environment and the National Designated Authority (AND, I.P), highlighting the collaborative efforts of various organizations to address public health challenges in Timor-Leste.

The CVTL Lautem Branch continues to prioritize health education and disease prevention in its community outreach programs. By equipping residents with knowledge and practical solutions, they aim to reduce the incidence of diseases like dengue and rabies, ultimately contributing to a healthier, more resilient community.
