Tasi-Tolu, Dili, 26 April 2025 – The Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) First Aiders Team provided First Aid assistance during the Funeral Mass Holiness Pope Francis at Tasi-Tolu, Dili, Timor-Leste.
Last year, the Timorese people cried tears of joy — they were happy and excited to welcome the Pope’s visit. But this year, their tears were different; they cried because they lost the Pope they loved.
During his Apostolic Visit to Timor-Leste on 10 September 2024, the Holy Father expressed how deeply he had fallen in love with Timor-Leste, saying that the greatest treasure of the country is its people — especially its youth and children, the very breath of its future.
Today, the Church and the world face a great crisis with the loss of Pope Francis — a loss of the values he embodied and upheld: joy, humility, fraternity, peace, compassion, mercy, synodality, respect, and love for all creatures (our “common home”), among others.
In response, CVTL continues its mission of caring for the people. CVTL provided First Aid Assistance during the Funeral Mass for Pope Francis held at Tasi-Tolu, Dili. CVTL remains committed to caring for the beloved people of Timor-Leste, helping them to carry forward the spirit and message Pope Francis shared during his visit last year, through CVTL’s on going programs.
