CVTL Viqueque Strengthens Community Capacity Through SILC Training with CRS Support

Viqueque, 13-17 April 2026 – The Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) Viqueque Branch, in collaboration with CRS partners, successfully conducted a five-day training on Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) for Advisory Agents (AKs). The training took place from 13–17 April 2026 at the CVTL Viqueque Branch training room.

The initiative aimed to enhance the capacity and knowledge of Advisory Agents to effectively mobilize communities and facilitate the establishment of SILC groups. These groups play a crucial role in promoting financial inclusion and strengthening community resilience.

According to Mrs. Severina Silva, Coordinator of CVTL Viqueque Branch, the training is a significant step toward supporting vulnerable groups, particularly pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and fathers responsible for childcare. She emphasized that the program also contributes to improving the economic resilience of communities in Macadique de Cima and Macadique de Baixo Villages in Uatulari Administrative Post, as well as Uabubo Village in Ossu Administrative Post.

A total of five participants, comprising three women and two men, attended the training. The sessions combined both theoretical and practical approaches, including interactive discussions, experience sharing, and group exercises to ensure effective learning outcomes.

The training was facilitated by Ms. Diana Natalia Mendonca, Ms. Adelina Freitas da Silva, Ms. Pascoela Marques Pinto, and Mr. Arlindo Viana. It was also supported by the presence of Ms. Luciana da Silva from CRS and Ms. Salustiana de Fatima from CVTL.

This activity was made possible with the financial support of the European Union (EU), reflecting a continued commitment to empowering communities and strengthening local capacities in Timor-Leste.
