CVTL Volunteers Lead Fumigation Campaign to Combat Dengue in Dili

Dili, 10-12 March 2025 – The CVTL Volunteer Fumigation Team, in collaboration with the Dili Municipal Health Service, conducted a large-scale fumigation campaign to prevent and combat dengue outbreaks in the city. This initiative aimed to protect communities during the rainy season when dengue cases typically surge.

CVTL Secretary General, Mr. Luis Pedro Pinto, emphasized the importance of proactive measures, stating, “Besides fogging, our volunteers engage directly with the community through door-to-door information sharing, distributing posters and brochures, and providing Abate to eliminate mosquito breeding sites. Our focus is on prevention, and since early February, we have reached thousands of people with vital awareness efforts.”

The fumigation campaign specifically targeted homes, schools, and high-risk areas identified through epidemiological surveillance data. Over the three-day operation, a total of 971 households and one school were visited, ensuring maximum coverage in affected neighborhoods.

Dengue remains a significant public health concern in Dili, and fumigation plays a crucial role in reducing its spread. CVTL extends its gratitude to all dedicated volunteers for their hard work in keeping the community safe.
