CVTL’s PMER Manager Joins Global PMER Meeting in Geneva

From June 4-7, 2024, the PMER Manager (Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting) of the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) participated in the Global PMER meeting held in Geneva. Organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), this significant gathering brought together PMER personnel from Red Cross and Red Crescent societies in 50 countries, including regions such as Australia, America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The meeting aimed to explore the vital connections and contributions of PMER to the IFRC’s Strategy 2030. This strategic framework sets the direction for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement over the next decade. Participants engaged in intensive discussions on planning agendas and the implementation of Unified and Renewed Reporting, which are crucial for the effective execution of Strategy 2030.

A central focus of the meeting was the concept of results-based management (RBM). Delegates examined the feasibility of harmonizing RBM practices across the IFRC network, aiming to enhance accountability and transparency in their humanitarian efforts. By aligning RBM processes, the IFRC hopes to improve the efficiency and impact of its programs globally.

In addition to strategic discussions, the meeting provided valuable opportunities for skill development. Participants attended various sessions designed to enhance their expertise in PMER practices. These sessions equipped attendees with the latest tools and methodologies, fostering a more skilled and knowledgeable network of PMER professionals within the IFRC.

The meeting concluded with the establishment of an agenda for ongoing collaboration among PMER, DMERL (Disaster Management, Evaluation, Reporting, and Learning), and PMEAL (Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) colleagues. This agenda focuses on addressing critical issues identified during the meeting, ensuring continued progress and unity in the efforts of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies worldwide.
