On July 23, 2024, in Aileu, the Civil Protection Authority (APC) conducted a comprehensive training session on Civil Protection Law for staff and volunteers of the Red Cross Timor-Leste (CVTL). Nelson Nunes de Orleans, the APC Head of External Relations, led the workshop, which focused on enhancing the participants’ understanding of emergency shelters and the legal frameworks surrounding them.
The training was part of a broader initiative aimed at equipping CVTL members with crucial skills and knowledge to manage emergency situations effectively. The session covered key aspects of the Civil Protection Law, including the legal responsibilities and best practices for operating emergency shelters. This training is intended to strengthen the capacity of CVTL to respond to emergencies with greater efficiency and compliance.
CVTL has consistently played a vital role in community preparedness and emergency response efforts. By participating in this training, the organization aims to further solidify its ability to support local communities during crises. The training session underscored CVTL’s commitment to improving its operational readiness and ensuring that their response mechanisms are up-to-date with current legal standards.
The APC’s initiative to provide such targeted training reflects a broader commitment to enhancing civil protection capabilities across the region. As emergencies become increasingly complex, ongoing education and collaboration between organizations like the APC and CVTL are essential for building resilient communities prepared to face future challenges.
