On July 24, 2024, Viqueque witnessed a collaborative effort to enhance public health and community resilience through a joint monitoring initiative for the COVID-19 Project. This significant undertaking, conducted by CVTL, CARE, the Viqueque Municipal Authority, and the World Bank, focused on bolstering health systems with an emphasis on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) activities.
The project featured a range of impactful activities including poultry farming initiatives, nutritious food cooking demonstrations, and community health information sessions. Additionally, the program offered essential Disaster Risk Reduction training to residents of Macadique village, aiming to improve local preparedness and response capabilities.
Key participants in the event included the Secretary General of CVTL, the VQQ Branch Coordinator, CARE-Timor-Leste’s Country Representative, and their staff, along with representatives from the VQQ Municipal Authority and the World Bank. Their collective efforts underscore the commitment to improving health and safety outcomes in the region.
