Covalima Branch Strengthens Volunteer Readiness for Emergencies

On December 10–11, 2024, the CVTL Covalima Branch held a Training on Voluntary Mobilization in Emergency Situations. The event aimed to enhance the capacity of volunteers to respond effectively during crises. In his opening remarks, Mr. Orlando da Carvalho, Manager of Community Health in Emergencies, emphasized the importance of preparing volunteers to face emergency challenges with skill and confidence.

The training, facilitated by Mr. Juvinal Barreto and Mr. Orlando da Carvalho, brought together 20 dedicated volunteers, including 13 women and 7 men. Marta Moniz, a volunteer participant, expressed her enthusiasm for the training, highlighting its value in building knowledge and readiness. “I’m very happy to attend this training and gain new skills,” she shared.

This initiative was made possible thanks to funding support from Chronic Crisis-IFRC, underscoring the importance of global collaboration in strengthening local response mechanisms. The CVTL Covalima Branch continues to play a pivotal role in empowering communities through such capacity-building programs.
