Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) Strengthens Ties with Portuguese Red Cross at International “Skill Share” Event in Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal (23-26 September 2024): Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste’s (CVTL) External Relations Coordinator, Ms. Vidiana Xareal, and Fundraising Manager, Mr. Sefriano Sufa, had the privilege of meeting with senior representatives from the Portuguese Red Cross during their visit to Lisbon. The meeting provided an opportunity to share the impactful work of CVTL and discuss the two organizations’ shared history in humanitarian service. The delegation was warmly received by General Director Sr. Miguel Cardoso e Cunha and Vice President of the Portuguese Red Cross.

The visit was part of the International “Skill Share” event, aimed at enhancing collaboration and knowledge exchange among National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. This forum brought together participants from various countries to explore strategies for strengthening resource mobilization and delivering essential humanitarian services. Through this event, societies are encouraged to enhance their capacity to respond to local and global humanitarian challenges.

Ms. Vidiana Xareal expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the event, highlighting its significance in fostering cooperation among humanitarian organizations. “This event has been a valuable platform to strengthen our resource mobilization efforts and empower us to continue providing essential services to those in need,” she remarked.

During the meetings, both organizations reiterated their commitment to continue working together in areas of mutual interest, with a focus on supporting vulnerable communities. Discussions also emphasized the importance of leveraging shared resources and expertise to improve the efficiency and reach of humanitarian operations.
