CVTL empowering Adolescent Girls Through Sustainable Agriculture at Salele Junior High School

Suai, 3 October 2024 – The CVTL STRONG Team has launched a program at Salele Junior High School in Covalima Municipality to empower adolescent girls through sustainable agricultural activities. This initiative aims to equip young women with practical agricultural skills, fostering both economic independence and gender equality.

Over the past three months, 28 adolescent girls participated in hands-on training to cultivate vegetables for personal consumption and local markets. This not only improves food security but also boosts income generation for the girls and their families. By involving young women in agriculture, the program encourages their active role in the social and economic development of their communities.

One of the teachers at Salele Junior High School highlighted the program’s success, stating that it has demonstrated the critical role young women can play in sustainable development, emphasizing their potential to be future leaders in this sector.

The program is funded by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), supporting the CVTL STRONG Team’s efforts to create lasting change through community-driven agricultural projects.
