On August 13, 2024, the CVTL Ainaro Branch organized a critical dissemination session on Contingency Planning and Action Planning at Manetu Village, located in Ainaro Municipality. The event aimed to equip the local community with essential knowledge and strategies to mitigate the impact of natural disasters. By enhancing understanding of these plans, the session sought to foster community resilience, helping to minimize the effects of calamities such as earthquakes, floods, cyclones, soil erosion, and deforestation.
The event was attended by local authorities and community members from both Manetu and Edi Villages. A total of 36 participants actively engaged in the session, including 13 women and 23 men. The participants were guided through detailed contingency and action plans, focusing on the practical steps that can be taken before, during, and after a disaster strikes to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
The dissemination session emphasized the importance of preparedness in reducing the vulnerability of the community to natural disasters. By sharing knowledge and creating action plans, the CVTL Ainaro Branch aims to build a more resilient community, capable of responding effectively to disasters and minimizing their impact on lives and livelihoods.
This vital initiative was made possible through the generous support of M-Red Mercy Corps, which funded the activity. The collaboration between CVTL Ainaro Branch, local authorities, and the community marks a significant step forward in disaster preparedness in the region.
