Dili, 27 March 2025 – The Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL) and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) have signed a joint agreement to strengthen community preparedness and resilience in Viqueque municipality over the next year. This initiative aims to enhance local capacity in disaster response and risk reduction, ensuring that communities are better equipped to handle emergencies.
The signing ceremony took place at the CRS office in Dili, attended by CVTL Secretary General Mr. Luis Pedro Pinto and CRS Program Quality and Partnership Manager Mr. Mariano Pereira, along with key representatives from both organizations. Mr. Pinto expressed his gratitude to CRS for entrusting CVTL with the program’s implementation, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to delivering meaningful and lasting impact.
Also present at the ceremony were CVTL Disaster Management Coordinator Ms. Emidia Belo, CVTL External Relations Coordinator Ms. Vidiana Xareal, and CRS Program Manager Mr. Andy Turner. The program is funded by philanthropist Margaret through CRS and implemented by CVTL.
