CVTL and ICRC Conduct Training for Dissemination Facilitators in Dili

Dili, 24-25 March 2025 – The Timor-Leste Red Cross (CVTL), in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), successfully conducted a Training for Dissemination Facilitators at the CVTL National Headquarters in Dili. The training aimed to enhance the skills of facilitators, ensuring they stay updated with the latest methodologies while maintaining high standards in dissemination activities.

According to Matias da Cruz, CVTL Dissemination Focal Point, the training focused on improving the facilitators’ capacity to deliver accurate information to communities. The participants were trained on key topics, including the history of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, CVTL, IFRC and ICRC mandates, the seven fundamental principles, facilitator methodologies, and future planning for dissemination activities.

Elisa Barbosa Soares, a participant from the Manufahi Branch, expressed her gratitude for the training, stating that it significantly strengthened their knowledge and skills. “This session helps us improve our capacity and knowledge when disseminating information to communities. I am confident that we will return with valuable experiences to apply in the field,” she shared.

The training was officially opened and closed by CVTL Secretary General Luis Pedro Pinto and ICRC Head of Office in Dili, Joao Martins Alves. During the opening remarks, they emphasized the importance of accurate information. “After this training, you will meet communities directly, so take advantage of it. Providing incorrect information can lead to misunderstandings about humanitarian organizations and the role of CVTL, ICRC, and IFRC,” they advised.

A total of 26 dissemination facilitators (12 women and 14 men) from various CVTL branches across Timor-Leste participated in the training. Sessions were led by experienced facilitators from both CVTL and ICRC, with financial support provided by the ICRC.
