Dili, October 15 to 16, 2024, the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) Department of Organization Development (OD) and Youth, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), conducted a workshop at CVTL National Headquarters (NHQ) in Formosa, Dili Municipality. The workshop focused on the Safer Access Framework (SAF), a key tool for improving safety and access during humanitarian operations.
The two-day session covered the SAF checklist, the development of a Safer Access Report, and the preparation of a comprehensive Safer Access Plan for 2025. The event was facilitated by Mr. Fredy Ngadas, also known as Oppa, and Ms. Luna from the ICRC Regional Delegation in Jakarta. Mr. Fredy emphasized that CVTL already has a SAF in place, and the purpose of the meeting was to reflect on its implementation and identify areas for improvement.
A total of 21 participants, including 8 women and 13 men, attended the workshop. These participants were drawn from CVTL NHQ and the 13 branch coordinators across Timor-Leste, ensuring that the discussions and planning covered national-level operations.
The ICRC provided funding for the workshop, reinforcing its commitment to supporting CVTL’s efforts in enhancing safer access to humanitarian aid and services in vulnerable areas. The workshop is expected to contribute significantly to CVTL’s strategic goals for 2025.
