Viqueque, 8-9 October 2024 – The Viqueque Branch of the Cruz Vermelha de Timor-Leste (CVTL) organized a community outreach event at CALIXA Secondary School in Ualake-Uatulari, Viqueque Municipality. The event, supported by a generous donation from Million Lighting Singapore, provided free shoes to 90 students as part of the Red Cross Youth (JCV) program. This initiative aimed to support students in their educational journey while promoting health and humanitarian values.
During the two-day activity, CVTL used the opportunity to conduct a Red Cross and Red Crescent dissemination session, and also covering important topics such as child protection and dengue fever prevention. These sessions helped educate students about the history, principles, and mission of the Red Cross, while also promoting health and safety practices in their communities.
The primary goals of the event were to encourage students in their studies, enhance their understanding of the Red Cross’ humanitarian efforts, and raise awareness about critical public health issues. By empowering young people with this knowledge, CVTL hopes to inspire greater community engagement and the adoption of humanitarian values among the students.
The CVTL Viqueque Branch expressed its gratitude to Million Lighting Singapore for their generous donation, which provided much-needed shoes to the students. This support not only enhanced the well-being of the participants but also encouraged them to become active contributors to their communities.
