CVTL Bobonaro Branch Prepares Community for Flood Response with Simulation Exercise

From July 23-25, 2024, the CVTL Bobonaro Branch conducted a preparatory meeting in Maliana for an upcoming simulation activity designed to enhance flood anticipatory action in Suriubu Aldeia, Goulolo Village, Cailaco Administrative Post. The primary goal of this simulation is to educate the community on the process of evacuation to safety, ensuring preparedness, and minimizing damage to homes during potential flood events.

The simulation holds significant importance for families in the region, as it equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively to dangerous situations. This preparation is particularly crucial when the National Directorate of Geophysical Meteorology issues warnings of severe weather conditions. By being prepared in advance, communities can protect lives and reduce the impact of disasters.

The preparatory meeting was attended by representatives from various organisations, including the CVTL Bobonaro Branch, World Vision, the Civil Protection Authority, the Fire Brigade, local leaders, and members of the community.

This collaborative effort underscores the importance of multi-stakeholder engagement in disaster preparedness. By working together, these organizations and community members aim to build resilience and ensure a coordinated response to potential flood emergencies, ultimately safeguarding the lives and properties of those living in vulnerable areas.
